Stone Junction asks businesses to pledge additional leave on June 8


Around one third of registered voters did not vote in the 2015 general election. In response to this, Stafford-based public relations consultancy, Stone Junction is inviting other companies to join them in giving each of its employees one hour of paid leave on June 8, 2017 to vote.


In order to raise the awareness of the importance of voting on a national scale, Stone Junction has set up an online petition and is calling for other companies to sign and make a change. Companies can pledge their support here, on Stone Junction’s page —


On June 8, Stone Junction employees will be allowed to arrive one hour later, leave one hour earlier or take an hour out during the day to vote. For employees that travel further for work, the additional flexibility will give them more opportunity to visit their local polling station at a time that suits them.


“Voting isn’t just about ticking a box — it’s about being in control of your future,” explained Richard Stone, managing director of Stone Junction. “Although polling stations are open outside standard working hours, many employees still choose to go home after a long day at the office, rather than going to vote.


At Stone Junction, we believe that it is extremely important that everyone has the opportunity to vote, and we'd like other companies to join us in our pledge to give every employee one hour of paid leave to cast their vote on June 8.”


Stone Junction is a technical PR agency based in Stafford. The company has achieved record breaking growth over the last year — increasing from a team of nine in May 2016 to 16 in May 2017. The agency will continue to recruit throughout 2016 and expects to finish the year with around 20 members of the team.

Stone Junction is managed by Richard Stone, whose previous experience includes PR campaigns for Arup, AIT Plc, CIENA, Parker Hannifin, Schneider Electric, SIG, SKF, Roche and WorldCom. Well over a decade in technical and technology PR has taught him that he is only just starting out. He is a very slightly geeky father of two who lives in Stafford with his long suffering wife, aforementioned children, dog and cat.
