Stafford PR agency makes top 50 tech
In its Technology Rankings 2018, PRWeek named Stafford-based technical PR agency Stone Junction as one of only three Midlands consultancies in the top 50. Also highlighted as one of the “interesting ones to watch”, Stone Junction is celebrating this success along with revenue growth of 80 per cent from 2016 to 2017.
Stone Junction was ranked number 45 in PRWeek’s top 50 technology PR consultancies, beaten by just two other Midlands businesses. It’s ranking is largely attributed to its 80 per cent revenue growth from £0.51 million in 2016 to £0.93 million in 2017.
This growth enabled the company’s headcount to increase from ten to 17 over the same period, building the workforce required to service 31 clients in engineering and technology sectors and capacity to continue to take on new business.
With six science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) degrees and eleven Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) members — two chartered — the Stone Junction team possesses a wealth of STEM and PR expertise.
“We have an unusually young workforce, with an average age of 27,” explained Richard Stone, managing director of Stone Junction. “They all grew up surrounded by technology and have the education, skills and knowledge to understand the technical products and activities of our clients.
“This technical understanding and the belief that nothing is impossible are key drivers of Stone Junction’s success. It allows us to express each client’s core message in an authoritative and relatable tone, to position them as thought leaders in their industry while remaining innovative and unhampered by simply adhering to communication techniques that have been relied on in the past.”
PR Week also mentioned Stone Junction in it’s article PRWeek UK Top 150 Consultancies 2018: Under the radar, highlighting the company as one of the “interesting ones to watch”. The agency placed 167 out of all UK PR consultancies and hopes to make it into the top 150 next year.
Stone Junction’s growth has not been confined to the UK. With six languages in-house, 20 per cent of its turnover from export and eight of its clients with an international element to their campaigns, the agency’s international presence is increasing.
Data published by the Office for National Statistics showed that, in November 2017, the UK’s manufacturing output was at its highest since February 2008. With competition between UK manufacturers so strong, published content that effectively and accurately communicates companies’ cornerstone messages is more important than ever.

Meet the team
Stone Junction is managed by Richard Stone, whose previous experience includes PR campaigns for Arup, AIT Plc, CIENA, Parker Hannifin, Schneider Electric, SIG, SKF, Roche and WorldCom. Well over a decade in technical and technology PR has taught him that he is only just starting out. He is a very slightly geeky father of two who lives in Stafford with his long suffering wife, aforementioned children, dog and cat.
Junction has been going from strength to strength, building up its
client base and championing the achievements of technical and
engineering firms, some of which are in Staffordshire."
